China Mobile Hong Kong Determined to Support National Security Law to Defend One Country Two Systems

On May 22, the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) examined the draft law of “National People's Congress decision on Hong Kong National Security Legislation” in its third meeting. China Mobile Hong Kong Company Limited (CMHK) believes that not only is this measure paramount to defending national security, it is also a fundamental solution to safeguard the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, as well as the biggest embodiment of the country’s devotion to Hong Kong’s prosperity, stability, and its people’s well-being. Since the extradition law amendment turmoil last year, forces calling for Hong Kong independence and secession have unleashed rampant disorder to threaten national security and provoke the bottom line of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy. Opposition forces have incited mutual socio-economic and political destruction, while foreign forces have glaringly meddled with Hong Kong’s internal affairs that compromise the welfare of 7.5 million Hong Kong citizens at the cost of their self-seeking interests. If no timely actions are taken, the home that citizens dearly treasure will be sabotaged and the Hong Kong society will be bogged down because of the selfishness of a small fraction of radicals. It is crucial and justified to establish a healthy system of law and an executional mechanism to defend national security in the Hong Kong S.A.R. from a national perspective. Hong Kong’s prosperity will be ensured as long as we gate-keep national security. CMHK is committed to upholding the sustainable implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy and the establishment of the National Security Law. At the same time, the company fully supports Hong Kong government and its measures to right the wrongs in Hong Kong in hopes of turning a new page and reintroduce the once lustering pearl of the orient.
