(Hong Kong, 20 August 2021) In celebration of its incredible milestone of surpassing 5 million users*, China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) has unveiled a series of programs designed to give thanks to its loyal customers for their continuous support. Embracing its core brand value of “Responsibility Makes Perfection – fulfilling its Responsibilities and Striving for Perfection, CMHK has announced a collaboration with New Home Association (NHA) to present the "Connected We Thrive" charity program, which aims to provide NHA We Care Card Members with exclusive mobile services and home broadband discounts. Applications are being accepted at all CMHK stores from today, and aims to help build a more digitally inclusive society.

An officiating ceremony for "Connected We Thrive" was held at Yau Tsim Mong Multicultural Activity Centre yesterday afternoon. Witnessed by Mr. CHAN Jick Chi, Jack, JP., Under Secretary for Home Affairs of HKSAR, Mr. Ho Kai-ming, JP., Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare of HKSAR, and Mr Zhang Zhao, Deputy Director-General of Department of Social Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., two puzzle pieces were put together by Mr. Wong Chung, Executive Director of New Home Association and Dr. Max Ma, Director and Executive Vice President of CMHK, representing the shared commitment and synergised effort of CMHK and NHA to help people in need.

Dr. Max Ma, Director and Executive Vice President of CMHK said: "CMHK continues to strive for excellence in service and business development. As well as the collaborative efforts of everyone in our team, surpassing the landmark milestone of 5 million users would not have been possible without the continuous support and trust of our loyal customers. As a responsible corporate citizen, CMHK has always been committed to giving back to the community through various initiatives. Paving the way to Hong Kong’s smart city development, we sincerely hope that our collaboration with NHA can help those in need by providing necessary support with a high-quality, superior communications and technology network."

Mr. Wong Chung, Executive Director of New Home Association said, "The New Home Association is extremely honoured to cooperate with CMHK and launch this important initiative during the unprecedented pandemic. I would like to extend a very special thank you to CMHK for reaching out and giving a helping hand to people in need. The "Connected We Thrive" program will provide affordable and high-quality mobile and home broadband services to our members, and help to build a more digitally inclusive society."

Mr. CHAN Jick Chi, Jack, JP., HKSAR Under Secretary for Home Affairs, said: "The Hong Kong SAR Government is committed to establishing Hong Kong as a world-leading smart city, and to embracing innovative technology to bring convenience to the everyday lives of our citizens. The internet has become an indispensable part of our lives especially, with the pandemic further increasing the need and demand for a fast, high-quality network. However, many underprivileged families are not able to access these fast network services or the latest technology, meaning their access to essential items and services is also limited. The lack of access is also a challenge for children who might not be able to access online learning tools. This collaboration between China Mobile Hong Kong and the New Home Association will not only provide internet support to people in need, but also level the playing field for underprivileged families to be able to access the latest information technology services.

Creating A Better Future

In addition to continuously optimizing its products and service to meet evolving customer needs, CMHK has also committed its resources to implementing various projects that benefit the future of the Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area community. Similarly, NHA is committed to supporting new arrivals to Hong Kong, including ethnic minorities and other underprivileged groups, by promoting social inclusion. This commitment echoes CMHK’s corporate culture of "Care For You", which led CMHK to launch the "Connected We Thrive" charity initiative by supporting NHA We Care Card Members with exclusive discounts and youth training programs. CMHK hopes this initiative will encourage young talent to tap into their curious minds and explore the world, and to acquire more information and knowledge to change their destiny. The program includes two categories:
