China Mobile Hong Kong fights the epidemic together

Six measures ensuring smooth information flow

Hong Kong, 16 February, 2022 - China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) has continually served Hong Kong by adhering to its core value of fulfilling its responsibilities to the community by striving for perfection. It is committed to providing first-class mobile communication services while shouldering corporate responsibilities and caring for the society. To battle against the Omicron coronavirus outbreak, CMHK announced six key measures to ensure the uninterrupted flow of information during this critical time and to partner with customers to overcome all challenges.

Six key measures

1. Partner together to fight the epidemic and weather the difficulties

  • Introduced 5G service plan at half price with data package discounts to ensure the unimpeded flow of information. When customers order the above service via the online store or 12588 hotline, the SIM cards can be delivered with free shipping, or customers can choose to collect their orders at a convenience store.
  • Launched additional data package offers to support customers' home office and study needs.
  • Offered discounts on anti-epidemic smart home products to keep the home environment clean and germ-free.

2. Worry-free connection Stay updated on information

  • CMHK has deployed policies to cater to the communication needs of those in quarantine centers and designated buildings. These include guaranteed stable network connectivity, and the provision of plans with a free unlimited local data connection and unlimited local voice calls1, and a free one-month JOOX VIP music service and hmvod standard package2.
  • 5G broadband, installation-free, to support customers working or studying from home so they are able to obtain the latest information at a high speed.

3. Free Infotainment

  • Free 50GB UTV dedicated data that allows customers to keep on top of the latest epidemic information and receive the latest epidemic prevention measures promptly. At the same time, UTV constantly updates movies, variety shows and news information, so that customers can enjoy all types of entertainment without leaving home.
  • Introduce Winter Olympics content in VR format with free data at UTV's "Winter Olympics Zone", allowing viewers to experience the thrills of the competitions from a stunning VR360 perspective.
  • Enjoy the Winter Olympics as a VR 360 spectacle and soak in the lively ambience with ultra-fast 5G.

4. Meet customer needs while they stay home

  • With the 7/24 MyLink app, customers can handle mobile service needs anytime, anywhere, such as settling payment, purchasing value top-ups, making mobile data purchases, joining or upgrading mobile plans, or inquiring about data usage.
  • "Stay Home & Carefree with MyLink" zone provides customers with one-stop life services such as dining takeaway, epidemic information updates, online discounts, epidemic prevention products, healthy tips, etc.
  • Introduces Epidemic Prevention Zone under eShop allows customers to obtain mobile and broadband services, buy prepaid sim cards, enjoy monthly supermarket vouchers and apply for monthly service fee exemptions via the sales hotline at 12588.
  • 7/24 corporate service hotline 2211 7777 is dedicated to corporate customers for business inquiries, payment, and other services.

5. Sync Class Pro learning never stops

  • "Sync Class Pro" has launched a series of free courses for primary students to supplement their academic performance at home safely. It provides more than 100 online classes in Chinese, English and Mathematics.

6. Strengthen protection and provide peace of mind

  • All shop employees and on-site broadband installation technicians have implemented a series of protective measures. All stores have installed air disinfection filters and will conduct deep cleaning and sanitizing on a regular basis. Shops have also prepared protective equipment including disinfectant, hand sanitizer, etc. for customers' use.
  • On-site broadband installation technicians will check the "confirmed cases buildings" and "restriction-testing declaration" lists, coordinate customer service staff to contact customers in advance, and take the initiative to reschedule appointments when necessary. If the technician has visited a "restriction-testing declaration" building, he will immediately stop working, take a Covid test, and will not resume work until a negative test report is provided to ensure the safety of customers and colleagues.

CMHK has always been committed to developing technology that contributes to society. During the fifth wave of COVID-19 infections, CMHK supports the "Day-Day-Do Robotic Care Project" co-organized by Sham Shui Po volunteer groups and the Sham Shui Po District Office. In collaboration with various partners including Novelte Robotics Ltd, Rice Robotics HK and OTG On The Go Ltd, 5G robots and robotic dogs have been deployed to deliver daily necessities to those kept isolated at Shek Kip Mei Estate, minimizing volunteers' workload and the risk of virus spread in the community.

Customers who provide the designated relevant certificates, upon being verified will be exempted from additional local data and additional local call charges during the mandatory quarantine period. This special arrangement is valid for 21 days from the application for waiver, subject to terms and conditions.

This special arrangement will last for one month from the application for waiver, subject to terms and conditions.
3 Port in with monthly plan or new customers that choose the designated 5G service plan and sign up to join with a minimum service period of 24 months before February 28, will be waived of the one month 50GB UTV service fee.
